How To Listen To YouTube With A Locked Screen

YouTube

YouTube has become much more than a site for watching videos. You can make lists with your favorite music, for example, or listen to your favorite YouTubers as if they were a podcast. But there is a drawback, and it is not possible to natively listen to YouTube with the screen locked.

You put on your headphones, you play that song, and when you lock the screen to run, clean, or do housework, YouTube stops.

It would be the perfect application to continue listening to it in the background, but there is no way to listen to YouTube with the screen locked.

Google knows that people want that and, in fact, in its YouTube Red payment service, which it offers in some countries in the manner of Netflix, it gives that possibility to some users.

And the others, what can we do to continue listening to YouTube with the screen locked?

As this…

Option 1 To Listen To YouTube With A Locked Screen: Use Mozilla Firefox

Firefox is a veteran and safe browser, which you can download for free for Android here and iOS here.

Open it, navigate to Youtube.com and wait for the videos to come out. Ideally, to make it work from the first second, you should open the options menu (the three points you will see at the top right) and choose: “Request desktop site.”

Now find the video you want to listen to. You will see the YouTube site as on a computer screen, and navigation will be somewhat more cumbersome on the mobile, but in return, when you press Play and lock the screen, you will continue to listen to the video in question.

As you can see, it is very easy, and it is not the only option.

Option 2 To Listen To YouTube With A Locked Screen: Use Google Chrome

You can also do this same trick with Chrome, although it is not straightforward.

To do this, run your browser and go to website.

Now find the video you want and hit Play. As usual, when you lock the screen, you will see that the video is paused. However, don’t worry.

If you look at your lock screen, you will see the Play and Pause controls for the video in question. If you click Play, you will listen to YouTube with the screen locked.
